It’s about sacrifice

It’s about being a better person

The kind of person He wants us to be

In the past, I’ve given up

coffee

meat

shopping

This year, I’m giving up negativity and pessimism

Everything that causes me doubt, fear,

any unnecessary, wasteful emotion

I will supress

I’m starting with 40 days

and I’m hoping that come Easter Sunday

I’m ready to continue living this positive lifestyle

In this beautiful line of work that I am in,

I get to be around such happiness and love.

I want more of it.

Their pastor called them the “Ken and Barbie” of their church

It’s not hard to see why they were dubbed such a fitting moniker

They are a striking couple

When we did their engagement photos in Newport Beach

People couldn’t keep their eyes off them

But then, they were oblivious to this

because they couldn’t keep their eyes off of each other

What people should also know is that Lance and Jess

are probably two of the kindest, sweetest people

that I’ve ever met

I’m so happy to have been present at their wedding.

I played hooky with Lucy today. This morning, we had a very nice visit with her cousins, Pierce and Leighton. They ran around, played hide and seek, ate pb&j sammies. All while their mommy, Lisa, and I experimented with post processing on our computers.

After which, we decided that it was time to release the butterflies that we had been “growing” in a butterfly habitat. [full post on that to come soon]

It was such a gorgeous day and the light was so beautiful, I knew it would result in some great pictures. Lucy, on the other hand, was not interested in photos at all. I’m glad I got a few shots in, before she ran inside the house to hide from my camera. But, she is my muse, and I will hide behind bushes paparazzi style if I have to, in order to get shots of my little beauty.

Incidentally, I have recently been using Vintage Crush Photoshop actions from My 4 Hens Photography. I am in la la love with them. Any prospective bride and groom of mine should know that

I cry at weddings.

There is a very good chance that while I am shooting and capturing

all these beautiful moments

at your wedding.

I will possibly be crying behind my lens.

I am so moved by love.

I am so moved by families.

I am so moved by raw emotions.

I am so moved by beauty.

I cry.

Vanessa and Miguel’s wedding last fall was a prime example.

She wept when she saw him from the other end of the aisle.

Her mother wept as her father passed her hand to his.

He wept as he danced with his mother.

His brother shed a few tears as he toasted his best friend and his new sister.

And as she threw her arms over his neck and danced the night away,

the tears glistened all around the room.

It was beautiful.

I enjoyed every minute of this wedding.

Dear Peyton,

In a few short weeks you will be here

I know it’s so cliche for people to say, “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.”

But seriously,

Andrea and Chris were meant to be.

They were together

Then they were apart

Then the universe pulled them back together

Because that’s how it is supposed to be.

And today they are waking up excited

With butterflies

She’s going to put on a beautiful dress

He’s going to wear shiny shoes

She’ll walk down the aisle

He’ll be waiting at the other end

Witnessed by their beloved family and friends

In God’s house.

We’ll hear mass

We’ll celebrate the Eucharist

They’ll both say, “I do.”

and then they’ll kiss.

It’s going to be a beautiful day.

Can’t wait for your wedding today! I’m excited to capture every special moment.

He stopped by the bar once.

Then twice.

She remembered his drink.

And the rest, as they say,

is history.

We met on a mild morning in November at the beautiful Mission Inn in Riverside, California. It cracks me up when people tell me that they aren’t comfortable having their picture taken. I love how it only takes a few minutes of chatting about how they met, how wedding plans are coming along, how pretty she’s going to look in her dress, until the camera is forgotten. I truly enjoyed photographing Jamie and Jared and I am very excited to be shooting their wedding in beautiful Laguna Beach, California in February.

Happy New Year from Lindsay Chavez Photo!

I’ve gone through quite a fall season

and I needed to

recharge

rethink

reevaluate

reenergize.

I laid in bed and stared at the ceiling

I thought and shed a few tears

I prayed

It worked

It’s very strange to be in a funk that was hard to crawl out of

But crawling led me back to where my heart lies and where it truly is.

So here I am

I am back

I charged

I thought

I evaluated

I energized

I’m here. I’m taking photos. I’m sharing them with whomever likes to see my photos.

Because I love this

I love photography.

Yep. You read that right. July 2. Almost 5 months ago.

I have no excuse for my major lag on this one.

Except to say that this is one of my absolute favorite weddings.

1) I play favorites

2) It’s hard to decide which is my absolute favorite

3) they all become favorites

No, really. I truly, absolutely, wholeheartedly, LOVE this wedding.

Here’s why:

1) Kelly and Jason have been together for over a decade!

2) It was a beautiful, intimate celebration with about 40 of their loved ones.

3) It was in Kelly’s parent’s back yard.

4) Kelly, her mother, and her sister had a hand in every little detail. From the wines served, to the hand-crafted chocolate favors.

5) The aforementioned pool? I didn’t fall in! (photographer phobia of mine)

I liked my comfort zone.

I liked telling myself that It was my “niche.”

It sounded so fancy-shmancy.

I was . . . well . . .  comfortable in it.

Like worn fuzzy slippers.

Like a warm blanket.

Like my favorite pair of jeans.

But I was a little too comfortable.

So comfortable, in fact, that I was afraid to move.

Then I decided to learn to become a Ninja.

Random? Yes.

Uncomfortable? Yes.

Scary? Yes.

But here’s what happened . . . I liked it.

I liked being out of the comfort zone.

It was scary, but exhilarating.

And, seeing in a different way is beautiful.

Then I stepped over it and LITERALLY saw the light.

It’s all thanks to the dynamic duo of Ed Atrero and Karen Atrero of Atrero Photography for taking a day to share their ninja skillz to other budding ninja photographers. If you’re looking to take your photography to the next level and just be able to see and shoot different kinds of light, then this workshop is for you!!! They are planning more San Diego Photography Workshops in the future including Photoshop Post Processing techniques, and more on lighting! I am definitely going to be stalking their page to get my spots for these!
